Dog Bite: A New Instrumental Beat Tape

I just released a new instrumental beat tape called Dog Bite, and somehow this makes instrumental album number 18 for me.

At this point, these releases feel less like milestones and more like journal entries, just snapshots of where my head was at during late nights, half-finished ideas, and moments where I wasn’t trying to impress anyone, just trying to get something honest out of the speakers.

Dog Bite is an experimental hip-hop tape made up of 15 tracks, some fully fleshed out, others intentionally short and abrupt. I’ve always liked projects that don’t overstay their welcome, and this one moves fast, hits, and then disappears, kind of like the name implies.

There are tracks here that feel playful, tracks that feel tense, and tracks that feel like unfinished thoughts that didn’t want to be finished. Beats like “Broken Unicorn,” “Captain Memory,” and “Pineapple” stretch out and breathe, while shorter cuts like “Twenty-One Seconds,” “Marching Orders,” and “Mixtapes and Butterflies” act more like interruptions than songs. That contrast is intentional.

The title track, “Dog Bite,” sits right in the middle; short, rough, and a little uncomfortable. Other tracks like “Scary People” and “Stop and Frisk” lean darker, while “Music Marathon” reminds me why I keep coming back to making instrumental music in the first place.

Here’s the full track list:

01 – Broken Unicorn (3:12)
02 – Twenty-One Seconds (0:21)
03 – Captain Memory (3:40)
04 – Not Listening (2:44)
05 – Construction (2:57)
06 – Music Marathon (1:30)
07 – Fight (3:31)
08 – Pineapple (4:33)
09 – Over The Hill (3:15)
10 – Marching Orders (0:46)
11 – Dog Bite (1:49)
12 – Mixtapes and Butterflies (0:57)
13 – Scary People (3:36)
14 – Rollers (3:20)
15 – Stop and Frisk (2:24)

I don’t overthink these releases anymore. Dog Bite exists because it needed to exist. If you’re into instrumental hip-hop that’s a little messy, a little experimental, and not chasing trends, this one might be for you.

Thanks to anyone who presses play, even if you only make it a few tracks in. That still counts.
